Mt. Kilimanjaro!!!! One of my dream hike trip. When I got an update from our keeper that "#The Traveling Journal Project is now in Mt. Kilimanjaro" I got so excited!

Here’s the note from Ingvild:

"Endelig var det tid for vår største utfordring på denne fantastiske reisen gjennom verden! Denne historien vil ta dere til Afrikas tak og gir dere vår opplevelse av å bestige Kilimanjaro."

"Finally it was time for our biggest challenge on this amazing journey through the world! This story will take you to Africa’s roof and give you our experience of climbing Kilimanjaro.”

#The Traveling Journal Project getting ready to conquer this mountain!

As I follow the journey of these two travelers, I can say that this one really was an amazing accomplishment. I can only imagine the excitement rushing through their veins as they stepped into Africa’s highest peak!

"Endelig kunne vi juble høyt! Det var ingen tvil om at vi nå befant oss på Uhuru Peak,  5895 m.o.h. Vår drøm om å bestige Afrikas høyeste fjell var nå blitt en virkelighet. Det var en helt spesiell følelse, og vi smilte fra øre til øre da vi tok vårt velfortjente seiersbilde sammen med hele gjengen. På grunn av den tynne luften var det anbefalt å ikke oppholde seg der mer enn 10 minutter. Vi så utover det tørrkledde landskapet som snart skal dekkes av store snømengder når regnsesongen kommer. Mestringsfølelsen var stor, og blide og fornøyde snudde vi etter å ha klart reisens største utfordring.

Endelig var det tid for vår største utfordring på denne fantastiske reisen gjennom verden! Denne historien vil ta dere til Afrikas tak og gir dere vår opplevelse av å bestige Kilimanjaro.”

"Finally we were able to cheer loud! There was no doubt that we now found ourselves at Uhuru Peak, 5895 m Our dream of climbing Africa’s highest mountain was now become a reality. It was a very special feeling and we smiled from ear to ear when we took our well-earned victory picture with the whole gang. Because of the thin air, it was recommended not to stay there more than 10 minutes. We looked beyond the dry-covered landscape that will soon be covered by heavy snowfalls when the rainy season comes. Coping feeling was great, cheerful and happy, we reversed after having managed the journey greatest challenge.

Finally it was time for our biggest challenge on this amazing journey through the world! This story will take you to Africa’s roof and give you our experience of climbing Kilimanjaro.”

I am planning to go to Africa some time very very soon and for sure this will be part of my upcoming adventures.

The Traveling Journal Project: Mt. Kilimanjaro!!!!

I know that I am not alone when I say that I have been dreaming of going on an African Safari ever since I have watched Disney’s The Lion King (and some National Geographic documentaries).

The idea of seeing the wild up close got all my adventure bones tingling. So, when I received this photo of The Traveling Journal Project I was so excited to share with everyone….and like me, their jaw dropped and said ‘wow’!

Here’s a note from the current The Traveling Journal Project Keeper:

Endelig skulle vi bytte ut den store trucken med terrengkjøretøy for å jakte på de ville dyrene i Afrika. Serengeti nasjonalpark i Tanzania er en av de beste stedene i Afrika for safari, og vi var klar for å endelig se «the big five».

(“Finally, we should replace the big truck with the ATVs to hunt the wild animals in Africa. Serengeti National Park in Tanzania is one of the best places in Africa for a safari and we were ready to finally see "the big five”.)

Africa’s big five are:

• Lion


• African Elephant


• Cape Buffalo


• Leopart


• Rhinoceros

According to a note from wikepedia:

"The term big five game (sometimes capitalized or quoted as "Big Five") was coined by big-game hunters and refers to the five most difficult animals in Africa to hunt on foot. Subsequently the term was adopted by safari tour operators for marketing purposes.^[2] The term is used in most tourist and wildlife guides that discuss African wildlife safaris. The members of the Big Five were chosen for the difficulty in hunting them and the degree of danger involved, rather than their size.”

Africa is so beautiful, just looking at this, I want to just to start searching www.cleartrip.com and book my flight.

Trip to Tanzania Serengeti National Park Africa

We received this photo from the current Traveling Journal Project keeper a few weeks ago. 

It was amazing to know that from South America, #The Traveling Journal Project is now in  Africa.

Here’s a note from the keeper:

"Your journal is now in Africa, and we have had some great days relaxing on the beach in Zanzibar in Tanzania. Next stop is Serengeti Nationalpark. #TheTravelingJournalProject”

And as I continue reading their adventure in Zanzibar, I started taking notes on what I can do when I finally decided to visit this place.

Here’s a quick note from their blog, along with other photographs of their trip.

…..When we got to the north side of the island, we checked into a beautiful hotel with wonderful sea views. Beforehand we had bought costumes for tonight’s masquerade party was to dress up each other in various themes. Ingvild was the lucky winner of the 80’s, and others had the theme "lady in red”. Dress party going on an African sailboat and we sailed away on the ocean wave!….

…Early the next morning we were ready to explore the exciting world lurking beneath the water between Zanzibar’s colorful coral reefs. We found the front fins and diving masks, and were ready for a day of snorkeling.”

Such a wonderful serene adventure. Can’t wait for the next update.
